Ball Bearing Dispensing System Project with NIU
• NIU Senior Design Project Team 30 (Anthony Ward, Shannon Duffy and Stephen Dodd ) visited RBS on 9/30/20 to kickoff the project
• Project objective is to ease ball nut assembly of both internal and external return designs
• A year-long project that will strive to have a functional prototype system to run assembly trials with next by April 2021
• Seeking a controlled method of metering ball bearings to get 30 to 150 balls per circuit without precounting
• Desire scalable system that can handle .0625” to .3750” balls and have ability to be quickly purged and changed over to ensure ball bearings do not get mixed
• Desire portability to allow for moving around a given workstation and the handheld portion to work with the variation in operators (right/left-handed, hand size, height, etc)
