RBS Secures New US Patent For Large Actuation Applications
Our new, patented design (11,421,763) helps vertical actuation systems overcome common misalignment issues.
Our design is specifically engineered for larger diameter units that are under high loads that move in a single direction. Due to the difficulty of fabricating large actuating units that frequently do not have precision linear ways, there will often be inherent misalignments and clearances that will cause the nut to move side to side as it travels along the screw. This side-to-side movement will create side and moment loads on the nut, which can lead to binding and significantly reduce the life of the ball nut. This patent will accommodate the side-to-side movement by converting the loads axially along the ball screw. Often, this solution can be retrofitted into existing designs with only minimal effect on stroke and fit in the same mounting holes.
